What is Dive Bar Thursdays?

Dive Bar Thursday started in July, 6 years ago. Duncan Arsenault has been bringing musicians together each week to meet and perform together. The idea was to get out of your regular gig, meet some new players and create a "one night only" brand new band. Often the musicians are meeting for the first time, other times they are old friends finally getting the chance to play together again. The music runs the gamut from rock, country, soul-jazz, funk, r&b, blues or unabashed improvisational music. Whatever the result, we all believe there are only two kinds of music, and we play the good kind. Throughout these 300 Thursdays there have been over 70 musicians and countless hours of music. Bands have formed, musicians have met, performed with each other elsewhere, gotten more work and best of all created a warm home for live music to thrive.

One of the musicians who has performed almost as many Thursdays as Duncan, was Scott Ricciuti. We lost Scott a year ago this week. This crushing blow to the Worcester music scene was felt strongly at The Dive Bar. Please raise a glass, kiss your friends and enjoy some music in his honor.

Without people like Alec, Porter, Andres and the crew at The Dive supporting this idea for a weekly music series we could have never done this. As we sit around the "house" B3 (on loan from our good friend Bill Connor, Thanks Bill!) and do what we do best, we will be thinking of Scott and the spirit he instills to champion live music. Thank you for the tremendous opportunity and thank you for supporting music.
